A Local's Perspective

Life in Monona Grove.

Monona began as summer homes and farmland in the Town of Blooming Grove, incorporated as a village in 1938 and became a city in 1969. Today it's a compact city of established neighborhoods along the Lake Monona shore, almost entirely surrounded by Madison.

Monona Drive is the main commercial street, and the Beltline runs along the south side. Lakefront parks like Winnequah, Schluter Beach and San Damiano give public access to the water, and the Lake Monona Loop bike route passes through.
